MarketPulse Móstoles

The City Council of Móstoles faces a significant challenge in managing and promoting local commerce, a fundamental pillar of the municipal economy. The lack of an up-to-date and complete database on businesses makes it difficult to plan effective strategies for their development. In addition, the absence of detailed information on underserved segments of the population prevents identifying key opportunities to promote trade growth in specific areas. Finally, communication between businesses and the City Council is poor, limiting the municipality's capacity to provide direct support or design policies adapted to the real needs of the sector.
To address this challenge, we developed an automated data collection system integrated with multiple sources, including Google Maps, to ensure that we obtain complete and accurate information about local businesses. This system collects relevant data, such as location, type of business and demographic characteristics of the environment, which are then centralized in a database updated monthly. In addition, an interactive dashboard was implemented in Power BI, which facilitates the analysis of trends and the identification of areas with specific deficiencies, offering an intuitive tool for strategic decision-making.
This system has transformed the way in which the City Council of Móstoles manages and promotes local commerce. The creation of an updated database allows the municipality to have a deep understanding of the business landscape and to adapt quickly to changes. In addition, the interactive dashboard in Power BI has simplified access to data, allowing the City Council to quickly identify underserved areas and design specific policies to support business development.
